Mischief Managed

One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one's mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure. It becomes easier to spot patterns and links, you understand, when they are in this form.

The other week I went to see the documentary Project Nim at the Rialto cinema in Newmarket. It was about this baby monkey, Nim who had been taken from his mother and was raised by humans. I thought it was going to be a really cute documentary about this baby monkey, but the documentary was actually quite dark and depressing. Basically, the people who were looking after Nim were teaching him sign language for their research. When they had finished with the experiment they just sent him off to a research lab and forced him to live in a tiny cage when he was used to being treated like a human. It was so very cruel. Poor Nim. The best part of the film was when little Nim played with cats. When he got a bit older he started humping the cat. I actually curled over in my seat and started crying with laughter.
