I get a new camera and the first thing I take pictures of is my dad eating chicken.

Goose Brain
I finally have a picture of my brain! I think I look like a bit of a goose, but it’s still cool to look at. The whole experience of getting a brain scan was exciting too - well mostly. I’ve never been admitted to hospital before, so it was cool to be able to have an MRI without actually being ill. I went to the Centre for Advanced MRI in Grafton and met the researchers who were both...

Fishing Frenzy
Today my Dad and I went out fishing on our boat. I haven’t been fishing in such a long time so I was really excited. The weather was nice because the sun was out, but not to kill us. The waves were also a little rough which makes the boat ride more exciting. It’s fun when your stomach drops as the boat smashes over the waves.  We launched the boat at Westhaven and headed out towards...

Dam Christmas
This year my family didn’t really celebrate Christmas. There’s only four of us in Auckland anyway, so it’s a bit hard to have a big family gathering. Plus, we’re poor and lazy. I’m not sure why, but I haven’t really cared about celebrations all year. Usually I’ll know exactly what I want for my birthday and Christmas, but this year I didn’t ask my...

Go Golfing
I’v never been a fan of golf, but minigolf is a whole different game. You don’t have to do any of those outrageous swings. I vaguely remember playing minigolf once before, but I can’t be sure… So I’m just going to say that on Saturday I went to play minigolf for the first time. Neil and I went to Lilliputt Minigolf on the waterfront. It wasn’t too busy and the...

I'm So Tyred
Today I put new tyres on my bicycle. On Monday I patched a hole in the inner tube with a repair kit and finally my tyres were ready to be pumped. My Dad bought me a pump today which was very kind. I had to go under the house to my dad’s tool room to get a spanner. I hardly ever go down there and forgot that part of my house exists. It was fun riding my bike… around in circles on the...

Are You Building A Nest?
Today I started to dismantle my room because I decided that I had far too much stuff and it was boring me. Originally I was just going to clean it, but I’ve talked to my Dad and now we’re going to repaint it too! I’m quite excited to have a nice newly done room. It might take a while but I enjoy painting, cleaning and decorating (well, for now). I started by going through all my...

Date With Devonport
Last weekend, Neil and I caught a ferry to Devonport. I haven’t been there for a long time so it was a nice small day trip. The only bad thing was that I had a cold so I was sniffling and spluttering all day.  As we were leaving Auckland City I really felt like jumping into the water. It was a lovely sunny day. A nice view of Auckland City. I haven’t been out on a boat for so...

Brain Drain
I am participating in this Psychology research about memory and imagination. Admittedly, I only signed up to do it because you get an MRI scan of your brain! Wicked cool. I went to the first session the other day and I had to list 100 events from the past ten years of my life. That sounds kind of easy, except each event had to include a different person, location and object. For example, I could...

I Have Sunshine In My Veins
Yesterday I had my last exam (which went terribly) and now I am finally free for four months! I have been counting down to this day for quite a while now. I enjoy university, but the thought of laying in the sun all day makes me very merry. I want to write more but my back is being old and broken again. That’s one thing I need to do this summer. Start exercising so I’m less of a slug...

It's Thursday
I really like Thursday nights because everyone in my family is out so I get the house to myself. I always turn off all the lights except for one of the chandeliers that we hardly ever use. I remember being really scared of it when I was a kid because it casted a really scary shadow on the wall that looked like an evil pumpkin. I like the patterns it makes on the walls now though… It’s...

The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton
Neil got me a copy of Noel Fielding’s latest book, The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton from London. This was an excellent gift since my mind has been slightly preoccupied with Noel Fielding and The Mighty Boosh in the past few months.  (I know this photo really should be flipped but…) Now just having the book made me really happy, but then I opened it and found SIGNATURES....

Bats!
On Saturday I went to a really wonderful Halloween party. The house was all decorated with candles and pumpkins, a few cool bands played and everyone had interesting costumes. I hate it when you go to a dress up party where no one dresses up… My bat costume wasn’t too crazy though. I had very little time to make it and only started at 6pm that night. However, it turned out better than...
